Artistic Research Lab: Listening Collectively: Acoustic Flows
Open call for artists, researchers, performers, sound practitioners, and interdisciplinary thinkers to participate in a three-day Artistic Research Lab focused on collective listening and acoustic flows. The event will take place from 21 to 23 October 2026 at Seestadt Studios Vienna as part of the SONIC TERRITORIES Festival 2026.

How do we listen together? How does sound shape our perception of spaces, bodies, communities and public life? And what shared environments can we build from there?
We invite artists, researchers, performers, sound practitioners and interdisciplinary thinkers to join LISTENING COLLECTIVELY: ACOUSTIC FLOWS — a three-day Artistic Research Lab at Seestadt Studios Vienna as part of SONIC TERRITORIES Festival 2026.
Together we will explore listening as a collective, bodily, material and spatial practice, investigating how sound, resonance and attention move through bodies, environments and communities. We ask how listening can generate academic, artistic and vernacular forms of knowledge and exchange.
The Lab unfolds through listening sessions, somatic exercises and collaborative formats.
Day 1 begins with a somatic listening practice with Yvo Kaufmann. Day 2 brings a workshop with Serena Lee on listening, reading and writing with the whole body, alongside a session with Kristina Pia Hofer on contemporary sound studies. On the final day, Kate Donovan proposes a de-centralised radio model opening listening toward ecological thinking and the more-than-human, followed by a live audio performance by Denise Sumi.
Developed with the University of Applied Arts Vienna and Jugend am Werk, the Lab brings together different approaches to sound and listening.

Apply to join a group of artistic contributors who will actively shape the Lab through their own perspectives, methods and experiences. This is not a traditional workshop, but a collaborative research environment in which all participants act as co-producers.
